Hmmm... somehow missed that whole NY update. I wonder how that happened. I guess I should throw a quick one in here for posterity.
( New Year's weekend )
( Broadway trip )
Somewhere along the line, I forgot to be quick.

Do I run a Star Wars campaign [my first] knowing I will have a player or two far more up on Canon than me? There's no end to ideas available on that one.
Do I run Serenity, which has its own rare coolness? More to learn and more world to develop the setting.
Do I write out the new GeorgeWorld game I have been concocting? Sci Fi, concept supports players coming/ leaving the game even instantly, backstory and universe is totally discovered on the fly...
Do I go old school and break out Heroes of Dunann, my table top game from the 90's [whose elements fed Brantwood and The Mesa.]
>I am thinking Star Wars, and *Rhoamer* gave me the core book for my birthday..

Preparatory to our trip to Spain, I picked up the Instant Immersion Spanish disc set as a refresher for my atrophied Spanish skills. Thus far, I am happy with it and am finding it easy to get back on the horse as it were, but one thing keeps driving me crazy. All the voice work is done in a Castilian accent, and my accent is mostly Venezuelan. I've always found the Castilian lisp to be somewhat irritating to listen to and I find I'm focusing too much on the accent and having to repeat stuff. I should just bite the bullet and shift accents (it isn't that hard for me when it comes to Spanish), since I'd be less likely to be looked at like us East Coasters tend to look at Southerners when they talk, but that would feel like giving up somehow.
In any case, yay for re-learning languages and for trips to Spain!

A very happy birthday to the kindest of ladies,
gianajho . An unexpectedly hideous eighteen hour drive back from Florida cut into the time I would have had to make your picture, so... looks like it's going to be late. All the best wishes that you have a wonderful day on your Honeymoon v 2.0, though!

Getting back into things post holiday madness, and realized I haven't even
looked at LJ in a long while.
The house is utter chaos, the holidays were good, looking forward to going
back to work (can't believe I get to say that), have a new kitten, and
things are just ... ok.
Though I've had a lot of thoughts lately that ...well not quite ready to share.
Watched the BBC Doctor Who marathon, cried my eyes out at Tennant's goodbye,
and have unkind and unfuzzy feelings for his replacement. Geranimo? Please...
I think I'm going to venture out today to visit my very bestest friend... wish me luck.

Guess what I am doing right now?
Updating LJ from my brand spanking new Netbook, which was a present from my marvelous husband. :o)
This means that I can transition my laptop to be my composing/media computer, and this adorable little thing can be my internet computer.
Wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!

May your coming year be filled with magic and dreams and good madness. I hope you read some fine books and kiss someone who thinks you're wonderful, and don't to forget make some art - write or draw or build or sing or live as only you can. And I hope, somewhere in the next year, you surprise yourself.

I would say however, that the foremost Law of the 21st century is rapidly shaping up to be:
'Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from Life.'
We appear to be on the brink of a massive explosion of technological advancements as we jump from simple, clumsy attempts at nanotechnology, to the more sophisticated approach of mimicking the massively more advanced 'nanotech' offered by existing living mechanisms.
We are going to discover some truly amazing - and truly terrifying - things in the years ahead. Should be interesting.

[Rare Politik] Apparently Gay Marriage is not the biggest threat...unless...

I rarely post about anything political anymore because, well, people like the argue. They like to argue a LOT and, sadly, emotionally, like to use irrational but salient points (which are generally anecdotal and which they truly know nothing about) as their basis for (then) rational arguement (see also; Christianity).
THAT said, the Chief Architect of the Bush Years just proved, that, personally, Gay Marriage *isn't* the biggest threat to Heterosexual Marriage...unless...!!
Karl Rove - the former top aide to President George W. Bush - and his wife, Darby, were granted a divorce last week, family friend Dana Perino confirmed to CNN.
"The couple came to the decision mutually and amicably, and they maintain a close relationship and a strong friendship. There will be no further comment and the family requests that its privacy be respected," Perino said in an e-mail to CNN.
The two were married in 1986 and have one son.

Soooooooo...
If I** wanted to have a wool winter coat re-lined in Fanciful Fabric, are there any of y'all out there (or people you know) who would find that to be a delightful and rewarding use of their skills? Assuming, of course, that I paid for materials, costs and arranged for a fair and equitable price for the labor involved.
(Why yes, I could just take it to a tailor, but what's the fun/challenge/supporting of local friends and artisans in THAT?)
** For me - no LARPs or CP involved!
